James R. Jones has been a licensed attorney in Texas since 1986. He attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years and graduated from the University of Houston in 1983 with a B.A. in Political Science. After graduating from South Texas College of Law, he began practicing civil trial and appellate law in such diverse areas as product liability, worker's compensation, insurance, professional liability, family law, Jones Act and many others. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts.

His appellate work includes a number of cases that led to significant changes in Texas law, including the elimination of the family member exclusion in automobile insurance policies. In a landmark decision, the Texas Supreme Court reversed decisions by the trial court and Court of Appeals that were adverse to his client. He is licensed to appear before all state courts as well as the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts in the Southern District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
